We are please to announce that Mekari collective CIC was awarded in 2024, a £2000 grant from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to bring to life our project.
Mekari Collective want to share, promote and celebrate Bromsgrove and Redditch heritage through a series of Free make and take sessions and collaborative project.
These session will be taking place over several sites:
Forge Mill Needle Museum 18th & 21st Feb
Avoncroft Museum 29th and 30th March
Bromsgrove Library 7th and 14th Feb
Tailor Taylor Creative Studio TBC
The Bromsgrove Society's Local historian Pat Townsend has also collaborated on this project by assisting with local historical information and images.
Project is led by Great British Sewing Bee contestant and Mekari Collective Director, Jenniffer Taylor; Who is passionate about sharing and keeping the skill of sewing alive.
Mekari collective believe that creativity as a wonderful tool that can help towards building confidence and self care. The Stitch Cafe' was created to help bring people together who may struggle with social anxiety and /or loneliness through their love of craft.
The Stitch Cafe' takes place every Thursday 12.30 -2.30pm at Tailor Taylor Creative Studio - 10 Hanover St, Bromsgrove.
Whatever your craft may be;
Simply head along with your project for a mindful and creative, social cafe.
£3 per session, (6th session is free)
hot drinks and sweet treats provided.
We are actively looking for opportunities to obtain funding to maintain and potentially expand this project. But at present, Tailor Taylor Creative Studio is supporting this project as part of the Mekari Collective CIC .
To continue to provide and create opportunities for individuals to come together and express, explore, and empower their inner creativity through Arts, Crafts, Sewing and Mindfulness Sessions. We aim to deliver community projects and sessions throughout Worcestershire, providing a platform for people to explore their inner potential and connect with like-minded individuals.
